We found a white tree pushed up in the dirt by the timber loggers. We haul it to our antique sawmill and make boards, sticker and strap them. Show some freshly picked buckeyes and a possible white oak mantel from the top of the tree.

We fabricated an active wedge to split fatwood kindling a little safer than compared to using our axe. Tested on pine knot with plenty of knots and also took it to the anvil to split metal.

We test the flammability of the pine knot. Finally we show an entire tree that is fatwood.

Johnny had a cedar post from a barn tear down. He cut it in half and milled the upper log with a chainsaw. He mad a porch slider swing out of the lumber. The lower log had rebar in it. It was removed and milled in to lumber on our antique circular saw.

We harvest some musclewood from our trails near the creeks. Take it to the buzzsaw and process it down to lump charcoal size. Then we carbonize it in our double barrel charcoal retort.

We found a large bitternut hickory that was damaged above its root flare. This allowed termites to invade. We harvested the log, made some lumber on our antique sawmill, and cut the remaining flitches on the buzzsaw. The other logs we split using a bushog wood splitter on the old tractor. Camera girl finds a coral snake in the woods, some buckeyes and morning glories.

Needed a table at the sawmill for lunch breaks. So the Grumpy Machinist called and offered a free cookie if we cut a large red oak up for him (really?). Wax was applied to the cookie and it was 2 months old at the time of this production.

This video is every step except one to cut up 2 7/8" OD oilfield pipe for the legs, cut pocket holes into the bottom of the cookie, attach and weld together, wrap a chain around the every changing green cookie and apply tung oil. Made a tractor compatible lifting eye because it weighs 200 lbs (91 kg).

The missing corrupted video step is the additional 2 9/16" hole saw cut that widened the pocket hole kerf.

Will probably do a follow up video of deep pour epoxy to seal up cracks.

We purchased a USA Attachment weld on thumb for our old Kubota L35 BT900 Backhoe. This video shows how we positioned it, and made it fit the dipper exactly. At the end we demonstrate how to pick up rocks and dig a hole with the thumb in place.

A Yellow Pine near our sawmill was attacked by beetles and it was dying. So we cut her down, ground the stump to grade and milled a log into boards. But we hit metal. Was still able to mill boards and made some lumber. We finished the day on the lake catching fish with wigglers.

We had a very difficult black walnut log to put on our old sawmill. The log was full of knots and crotches along with some rot. After much log rotating we got some live edge slabs with out getting hurt too bad.

The antique 1953 chevrolet 4100 ton and half ran good.

I take apart and show the inside of the Foley Belsaw M-14 40" circle sawmill blade collars. The documentation presented is from "Circular Sawmills and Their Efficient Operation" Book by Stanford J. Lunstrum. I have no idea what the original specifications were from Foley Belsaw.

Peanut oil and freshly dug red potatoes! Using a hand cranked potato lathe. Enjoy!

We have been improving our pasture since 2011. Spread chicken manure , reduced the gopher population, and mowed many times. Gerald is a one man operation cutting, raking, baling, and hauling.

Our air conditioner outdoor fan quit after a power failure. When power came back on, the fan motor hummed and would only rotate by spinning the fan blade. Took 10 days to get a replacement motor. In Texas, that's eternity in the summer. We go thru the checks and how we kept it functioning and show the fix.

Camera girl has a wall for her cast iron skillets. We hung them with horseshoe nails. But the dutch oven is too bulky to hang safely. So we forged a hanger from garage sale scraps to hang the oven near the wood stove.

This video follows the 2 "Sawmill Releasing Oak Smoke" videos where we rebuild the bunk on the antique Foley Belsaw circle sawmill. A old 22" diameter water hickory that weighs over 1000 lbs is used to load the mill and the 1964 Case 530 tractor. We made some nice hickory boards and firewood.

In this video, we align the blade with the carriage and test again with the oak. Welded down 3" angle iron down each 60' side. Used music wire to make it straight. Made some nice looking 6" oak boards.

Using a tractor, we planted 100 walnuts from seed a little over a year ago. This video shows how big they have grown with just over a year in the ground. Bucks took out a toothache tree. Night hawks are everywhere.

We picked up walnuts off the ground last fall. So in February, we used a subsoiler behind a tractor to open a furrow to plant about 100 black walnut seeds. Simple method, open a ditch, pitch them in, and step on them. Used Kubota tractor , King Cutter subsoiler modified for ballast, and rubber boots.

We freshly dug red potatoes, put a twist in them, and fried them in peanut oil. MM MMM Good!

We harvested garlic, red potatoes and 1015Y onions. We make some beer batter onion rings and they are the best!

We cut our own lumber on a farmers mill (Foley Belsaw M14). This is a short clip on how we go about it. Hope you enjoy it!

Lots of ranch activities today! We buzzsaw some firewood and charcoal chunks. Plant some pole beans, and go back to the sawmill where we find a misalignment problem. Part 1 is the discovery of the sawmill problem and part 2 is the fix and test. We Used tractor grapple, chainsaw, Foley Belsaw M-14 circle s

Discovered a red oak probably 100 years old. Underbrush was all around it. So to expose it, we use a tractor saw that runs off the PTO to cut the trees off at ground level. Cedars are taken to the sawmill, other growth is piled up for later. Used tractor grapple, chainsaw, Foley Belsaw M-14 circle sawmill.
