Whisky.com reviews the Kyrö Malt Rye Oloroso. Finnish malt rye whisky is made from malted rye. The additional malting step brings out the fruity flavours in the rye much more clearly, and the rye malt is also slightly more acidic and bready than unmalted rye. In general, rye is rarely malted for whisky production. Rye malt is widely used in bread production in particular. The special feature of this edition bottled exclusively for Germany is the finish in Oloroso sherry casks. The Kyrö Distillery Company was founded in 2012 by five friends during a visit to the sauna.

Water of life The word "whisky" originated from the Gaelic "uisge beatha". It means "water of life".

The spelling, whether whisky or whiskey, depends on which country the whisk(e)y comes from. Scotland has whisky and Ireland has whiskey. The spelling with an "e" is also used in the USA, as many Irish people emigrated to the USA. In the rest of the world, it is spelt whisky.

💡 What is whisky made from?

Whisky is a distillate made from grain. The most important types of grain are barley, rye, maize and wheat. Water and yeast are also needed to make whisky.

The production process and the main ingredients can vary depending on the type of whisky. Barley is mainly used for Scottish and Irish whisky, while whisky in the USA is made from corn and rye.

Whisky.com reviews the Wolfie's. Wolfie's is a blend that perfectly combines grain and malt whiskies. Sir Rod Stewart and the team at the Loch Lomond distillery created this 40% vol. bottling as a tribute to the singer's rock'n'roll roots combined with Scottish whisky tradition. A reference to the lyrics of Rod Stewart's song "Rythm of My Heart" can be found on the bottle. The melody of this song is based on the Scottish folk song "Loch Lomond". The slightly smoky blended whisky is matured for at least 3 years in American oak bourbon casks. The flavour is soft and pleasantly sweet with gentle citrus and oak notes.

Copper Pot Stills and Double Retort Stills are used in the old Lemonade Factory of Port Ellen. The unaged rum is reminiscent of distillates from Haiti, Jamaica and the French Antilles, but with a Scottish twist. Just like the Taste, the name is also Scottish. Geal' can be translated as white, colour of light or pure, just as the distillate presents itself in the bottle.

The single malt, matured for 12 years in American oak casks, was given a green look with hand-drawn motifs, all of which relate to the Glenlivet distillery and the production of whisky.
