"Twilight Zone" is a 1982 hit by Dutch band Golden Earring. It was written by the band's guitarist George Kooymans, who got the inspiration from a book by Robert Ludlum, The Bourne Identity.

What is the meaning of the song drift away?
The song is an explanation of how music and its elements help him deal with the world. He is not saying that his mind is free from strain; he's saying that his mind is empty and he is idle, as he does not know what to do. At this time the melody of a song can fill him (and his mind) with purpose and emotion.

Trivia
Paladin quotes from two works by English poet Robert Browning (1812-89). The line "it is not what man does that exalts him..." is from "Saul" (1845), and the passage "man's reach should exceed his grasp" is from "Andrea del Sarto" (1855).

Trivia
At the beginning of the episode Paladin ( Richard Boone ) is talking with a cavalry captain ( Walter Reed) who is celebrating finally getting rid of the last camel. The United States Army actually conducted trials with camels in the late 1850s-60s to be used as beasts of burden across the great plains of the midwestern United States, however they were deemed not practical.

Paladin accepts the task of capturing an escaped criminal, only to form an irregular bond with the convicted man.

When the man in black chooses to aid a tormented Cherokee ranch owner, his actions lead to questions of which side he's really on.

Trivia
The title "Winchester Quarantine" alludes to the Winchester rifle, a comprehensive term describing a series of lever-action repeating rifles manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. Developed from the 1860 Henry rifle, Winchester rifles were among the earliest repeaters. The Model 1873 was particularly successful, being marketed by the manufacturer as "The Gun that Won the West".

FIRST EPISODE

Paladin seeks the job of seizing a rancher's son-in-law at Perdido, an isolated Mexican city of outlaws run by outlaws for outlaws.

Trivia
Paladin states that his revolver has a trigger pull weight of 1 oz. Most trigger pull is classified in pounds with anything under 2 lbs being classified as too light and dangerous, this would mean that just barely touching the trigger on his gun would cause it to fire.

Paladin reads a newspaper article describing a brutal killing. After capturing the fugitive he goes to a small Texas town to catch a train north with his prisoner. Paladin has his hands full as the townspeople are out to liven up what would have been just another quiet night.
