The team over at Starbase Raceway held a test race on their newly finished track and I participated! In this video I show you my banana shaped ship "Chiquita," my race run, some repairs I have to do after the race, a program I developed to make flying in Starbase easier, my view as a gunner during another person's race ( @CommandoDoggo ), and finally my attempt at bringing my ship home which did not go as planned.
Overall, this video showcases a ton of what Starbase has to offer in its current form, community run events, unique ships and detailed repair, the ability to create tools to make the game better, and combat action with detailed damage.
Thank you to all the other participants in the race, to the hosts for running the event, and to you for watching my silly videos. 🍌

The short answer is it's not dead, it is being worked on by a small team and we should hear some news in April 2024 (next month from the time of writing of this). After that, we should be able to get our hands on something new to play with in at least 6-12 months.
This video aims to thoroughly answer the question if Starbase is a "dead game." I first give a brief history lesson about the game up to the point of the development pause to help those not familiar with the game to get up to speed. After that I show what has been said about the issue of funding before getting to the details of the state of development. Finally I talk about some of the features hinted at in the future update.

I take on a player-made mission to go retrieve some ore that's been bolted to a ship. This game has the possibility for players to make all sorts of things for other players to do, so Freelancer took it upon himself to try to get that started.
