Imagine being a German following World War I. After centuries existing as a culturally and linguistically united - but politically divided - nation for centuries, the unification of the German States sent the powers of Europe scrambling for solutions. Germany UNITED was like an atom bomb, suddenly wielding enormous power that destabilized a political structure that depending on a weak and divided Germany to survive. Between 1871 and 1914, Germany rose to the status of international, imperial power, giving established empires like France, Russia, and the UK a run for their money. For this reason, the Great Powers put everything they had into defeating and subduing Germany during WWI. Had Germany been allowed to progress unfettered, there would have been no power that could match its might. The 20th Century was on track to be the German Century.

But Germany could not bear the might of the UK, France, and the USA while fighting a communist insurgency at home. The Allies got the surrender they needed to rob Germany of its power, its possessions, and its potential. The post-WWI German was not just defeated, he was demoralized, depressed, and disillusioned. There seemed to be no way forward for Germany, given the crushing conditions of the Versailles Treaty. Germans had lost their hope. They had become agnostic to their potential and promise.

Adolf Hitler made them believers again. Tapping into the dormant power of the German Volk, the National Socialists resurrected the Aryan spirit and directed it towards making Germany the great power it was destined to be. In only six years, Germany transformed from slave to scion, fully invested in achieving the destiny of their great and noble blood.

Say what you will about Hitler and the National Socialists, they did what they said they would do. They lived up to their promise to make Germany great again. All that was required was to make the Volk believe again.

The National Socialists, led by Adolf Hitler, brought the thunder and reignited the spirit of Germany. It took the entire world to subdue that spirit, but it never died, only laid dormant, and will someday reignite to consume the world.
