Why is water important to life?
Water is essential for life.
We need it for our:
digestion
absorption
circulation
saliva
transportation of nutrients,
maintenance of body temperature.
Proper hydration keeps things flowing in your stomach and prevents constipation.
Water also helps your kidneys remove toxins from your body. If you drink too little water, you may be at higher risk for kidney stones, especially in warm climates.
Sweating is your body's primary way of getting rid of excess body heat.
Dehydration causes
Many people today suffer from dehydration, even if we have a good supply of water.
There are many reasons you can get dehydrated, one of them is stress. When you’re under stress, your adrenal glands pump out stress hormones. As adrenal fatigue progresses, your body becomes dehydrated.
Why sodas are bad for you
Sodas have a massive amount of sugar and awful chemicals. One can of soda contains ten teaspoons of sugar. Soda has phosphoric acid, which interferes with the body’s ability to absorb calcium.
Diet sodas add aspartame instead of sugar. Aspartame is behind almost one hundred different health problems including brain tumors and diabetes.
High Fructose Corn Syrup is another sweetener common in sodas. Soft drinks do not contain any nutritional value. They are acidic, and bad for our health.
Alcohol has a detrimental effect on your body. Excessive alcohol can scar and damage the liver, and increase the risk of liver cancer. A headache you get after a hangover is a sign that you’re dehydrated.
Eating stimulating foods can also lead to dehydration.
Prescription drugs can also cause dehydration, especially blood pressure medicine.
Excess exercise and hot weather can also make you dehydrated.
Diarrhea also causes dehydration when it prevents your intestinal tract from absorbing water from the food that you eat.
Fluoride dangers
Many water supplies in America apply fluoride to the water. Fluoride is a toxin that you don’t want in your body. Sodium fluoride (NaF) is a toxic waste product from the aluminum production. It has damaging effects on any living organism.
Fluoride in the water does not help your teeth. It also accumulates in the bones and causes a bone disease called skeletal fluorosis. Fluoride has caused bone cancer, liver cancer, and a host of other physical ailments in rats.
Chlorine dangers
Many countries put chlorine in the water supply. Chlorine is a yellow-green gas with a strong odor. We use it to disinfect everything from tap water to industrial waste, and swimming pools.
The main reason for adding chlorine to water is to kill harmful pathogens. We use chlorine not because of its safety or efficiency, but due to its low price.
The byproducts of chlorine are the most toxic. They are mutagenic or carcinogenic(causing cancer). Chloride can cause problems with the immune system, skin rashes, headaches, and more.
Other contaminants in the water are:
Rust from old pipes
toxic herbicides,
pesticides,
pharmaceutical drugs,
heavy metals
Pathogens.
How to filter water
One of the best ways you can invest in your health is to buy a water purification system. A good brand is Berkey. With the Berkey, you can filter about 6000 gallons of water before you have to change the black filters.
If your water contains fluoride, then you can buy an extra filter for your Berkey.
Most water bottles come straight from municipal water systems and are not healthier to drink. Drink your water from a bottle made of stainless steel or glass. Avoid using plastic bottles as they can contain toxic BPA.
Dehydration treatment
An excellent way to know if you’re dehydrated is to look at your urine.
If it is dark yellow, you have to drink more water. And if it looks like water, then you have to drink less.
Eat more vegetables and fruits, as they contain a lot of water.
During the day drink about 6-8 cups(2 liters) or more of water every day.
Don’t forget to drink more water when you exercise or the weather is hot.
