In 2010, Arif was arrested aboard the $ 60 million luxury yacht Savarona. On board, the authorities found underage girls from Russia and Ukraine who were used to sexually serve wealthy clients at prices ranging from $3,000 to $10,000. A year later, Arif was acquitted by a Turkish court along with six other defendants. Four, however, were convicted, but with a suspended sentence. Bloomberg reported that those arrested included Russian, Kyrgyz and Kazakh businessmen and government officials. The Israeli press revealed that among those arrested on the yacht were Kazakh-Israeli billionaire Alexander Mashkevich (a member of the World Jewish Congress), Russian-Jewish businessman Telman Ismailov and senior assistant to the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov.
