Lazar: a poor and diseased person, especially one afflicted by a feared, contagious disease such as leprosy. A Lazar House is a hospital for those suffering infectious diseases (especially leprosy).

The picture used is from "The Massacre of the Innocents" by Léon Cogniet, painted in 1824. The painting actually represents the biblical account of infanticide by Herod the Great. I use it here to convey the hunted woman and infant in hiding.
