Breaker Morant 1980

Harry "Breaker" Harbord Morant (born Edwin Henry Murrant,1864-1902) was an Anglo-Australian drover, horseman, bush poet and military officer, who was convicted and executed for murdering six prisoners of war and three captured civilians in two separate incidents during the Second Anglo-Boer War.

Typical of films from this time to have a bitter note of condemnation towards the British as the UK had, not long past, joined the European Union. This was viewed by Australians as a betrayal of their long history of sacrifice and loyal friendship. Many businesses and farms suffered and went under in Aust due to UK trade agreements suddenly favouring the EU nations instead.
