I have tried other pet trackers in the past but this one although rather dearer at £89.99 seems a cut above the rest and offers some features the others do not have.
Inside the small but attractive box was the tracker device itself, a water-resistant silicone jacket, an adjustable collar, a SIM card extractor tool, USB to a proprietary charging cable, and a User Guide. Although small the User Guide is well written and easy to read. I enclose a scan of it in my boxing video, switch to full screen and pause as needed to read it.
The tracker device is pretty small, one of the smallest I have seen and has just one button on the front and a single grommet protect slot for the micro SIM card. The silicone sleeve allows the tracker to slip inside where it is then waterproof to IP67 levels - this means it should be proof against rain and short water immersions but not to sustained immersions or below one metre. Th collar is made of webbing type material and has plastic adjustable buckles and feels very robust. My only criticism of the hardware is that it uses a non-standard USB charging cable so take care not to misplace it.
Most rival trackers require you to pay a monthly service fee and should the tracker company cease trading then the tracker will be useless. Not so here, no third party servers are needed and the tracker is free to use with any 2G UK mobile service that allows SMS messages. Be sure to ensure that your SIM card has at least 30MB of data available and does not need a password. The tracker supports 850/900/1800/1900 2G frequencies and should work with almost all UK carriers. Note that the THREE network will not work nor will any 3G or 4G only SIM cards. If you shop around you should be able to find a PAYG package for a very reasonable amount. I get a free SIM card from my ISP which comes with enough free data bundled with it to cover the needs of the tracker.
Before using the tracker, make sure that the SIM card has been registered with the phone comp..
