Toronto is pegged as —140 favourites despite losing their last series with the Jets (+120) 1-2. Regardless, it’s expected to the be a highly offensive matchup, with a big 6.5 goal total on the board. Puck drop is at 7:30 PM ET.
Toronto is still without the services of their starting netminder, Frederick Andersen, who’s been out since March 19.
The Leafs have rallied behind backup Jack Campbell for three straight wins in Andersen’s absence (including two in overtime) before giving him Monday night off when they faced the Edmonton Oilers with Michael Hutchinson in net.
The Leafs lost 3-2 to the Oilers and expect to have Campbell back in net on Wednesday. Campbell is now 6-0 with a .945 SV% and 1.48 GAA this season. Winnipeg has no health or injury concerns heading into Wednesday’s matchup.
They’re 4-1 in their last five and beat the Calgary Flames 5-1 on Monday. Nikolaj Ehlers and Mark Scheifele led the offense in their victory over the Flames, with Ehlers registering three assists and Scheifele scoring two goals and making one assist.
NHL Odds: Winnipeg Jets Host Toronto Maple Leafs for Two-Game Set
The Winnipeg Jets will look to ride the momentum of their 5-1 victory over the Calgary Flames into their Wednesday night matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The last time these top two North Division rivals faced off, Winnipeg won 5-2, which earned them the 2-1 series victory. Entering as +120 underdogs, the Jets must prove themselves again.
Toronto’s top points earner, Mitch Marner and goal scorer, Auston Matthews will be up against Winnipeg’s netminder Connor Hellebuyck. With a 17-9-2 record, Hellebuyck has seen a lot of ice time this season and is 2-2 against Toronto.
He’ll need Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor to generate offense up front to contend with the Leafs.
