Walpole does seem to love himself the word 'transport', but he uses it to excess in this chapter, so I suppose I ought to provide a formal definition of it here, since we rarely, if ever, use the word in the same way today. When Walpole uses it in this story, he means a strong or intensely pleasurable emotion.
