Doctor Sleep. A sequel to The Shining.

Existing for countless centuries, the True Knot are a free roaming gang of quasi-immortal beings that have discovered the secret to living for eternity. A secret that directly connects itself with the ‘shining.’ Under their beautiful leader, Rose the Hat, an alluring woman with a dreadful and grotesque duty for her people, the True Knot seek out steam, which is the lifeforce of children who have the ability to ‘shine.’ Once they’ve found a child with this power, they feed, subjecting them to excruciating torture so they can absorb the psychic traces from that agonizing pain. These traces they call “steam,” and it is the means by which they can achieve immortality and continue to wander the world as they have since ancient times. When Rose the Hat sets her eyes on Abra, whose ‘shine’ is unbelievably powerful that she thinks it can sustain her True Knot forever, it’s up to Danny to stand up to his inner demons and fears in order to help Abra escape this terrible fate.

The True Knot:
The True Knot are a cult of extremely long living beings who use a combination of fear and pain on their victims to feed on the life force, known as "steam," of children who are gifted with the Shining. They are an amazingly old gang, and there were once so many of them that there were many separate groups, hence their being called the True Knot. They are a main antagonist in Doctor Sleep, currently headed by Rose the Hat, with Crow Daddy as her right hand, and Snakebite Andi as their newest member.
