During the 2019 Video Game Awards (VGA) the development team behind hit game Disco Elysium, ZA/UM thanked Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels
The Gizmodo website Kotaku decided to heap praise upon the developers for saying this and encouraged its readers to unironically check out the Communist Manifesto.
From the blog post :
"If you’ve played Disco Elysium, which features the vocal talents of the members of socialist podcast Chapo Trap House, you may not be surprised by these references. If not, I encourage you to read The Communist Manifesto, which is about how a ghost called “communism” is haunting Europe. It’s pretty radical."
This is an absurd statement from both ZA/UM & Kotaku to say such positive praise upon the founders of an ideology that under low estimates from historians, at least 100 million people were killed under communist regimes in the 20th century. The Communist Manifesto has led to untold numbers of people suffering and destroyed.
It is incredible that the Dictator of WW2 Germany is pointed out as being evil (as he should be) but to not point out how evil and destructive the Communist Manifesto is, this is hypocritical and shallow, to say the least.
