The earthquake struck Mississippi County, near the town of Etowah at 11:46 a.m., according to the USGS website.
There were no reports of damage or injury, according to the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management.
Mississippi County is located in northeastern Arkansas on the banks of the Mississippi River. It lies just north of Memphis, Tennessee.
The area lies along the New Madrid fault.
