Chilean-American blogger Gonzalo Lira, known as 'CoachRedPill,' has reportedly passed away in a Ukrainian prison, as announced by his family on Friday. Lira, aged 55, resided in Kharkov and transitioned from blogging to YouTube commentary following the escalation of the conflict with Russia in February 2022. He was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in May on charges of "discrediting" the Ukrainian leadership and military.
In a poignant note published by The Grayzone, Gonzalo Lira Sr., the father, expressed his distress over his son's death, alleging torture, extortion, and over eight months of isolation. Lira Sr. placed blame on Ukrainian President Zelensky and criticized the perceived inaction of the U.S. Embassy, holding both accountable for the tragic circumstances. The grieving father also sought support from television host Tucker Carlson, confirming the death of his son in Ukrainian custody during a conversation with Carlson in early December.
