In the 16th century, Copernicus made everybody mad when he said he could prove the Sun stood still and the earth did the moving. They were mad because the traditional view was that the earth was the center of the universe. I imagine he lost his church membership over it, too!

The point is that when God set up this rotation period, he set it up in a deliberate fashion. He has two great clocks: the ancients called one the cycle of the Moon or a month. The other a year: a year is a cycle of earth making one orbit around the Sun.

How can you keep track of time with these fractional parts of the movement of the moon and the earth? With respect to the Sun, that's a good question. Our earth rotates on its axis in such a wonderful way; our earth actually makes a complete rotation in 23 hours 56 minutes and 4 seconds – not 24 hours! What happens to the rest of the 24 hours?

Orbital mechanics requires that as we move from position to position, we have to rotate, not only one complete rotation on our axis, but over-rotate by three minutes and 56 seconds to account for the travel in our orbit around the sun. The precision here is simply incredible. Only God could do this.
