Christian Fired For Being Anti-Gay on Social Media (Israel Folau)

An Australian rugby player, who is also a devout Christian, and is said to be “one of rugby's most exciting talents” and “Australian rugby's highest profile player” is set to have his contract terminated after he uploaded a social media post condemning sin on instagram. Israel Folau is receiving heavy backlash for his April 10th post where he said that “hell awaits” gay people, drunks, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists, and idolaters. However, the “homophobic” statement was what received the most criticism and caused his contract to be put up for question.

The Sydney Morning Herald 2015: Israel Folau to earn almost $2 million per season in new three-year deal with Waratahs and Wallabies. His post also had a caption and a few bible verses, which read: “Those that are living in Sin will end up in Hell unless you repent. Jesus Christ loves you and is giving you time to turn away from your sin and come to him. — Galatians 5:19-21 KJV, Acts 2:38 KJV, Acts 17:30 KJV.”

RT News: Date set for rugby star Folau's code of conduct hearing after anti-gay social media post. Folau is now being asked to explain himself in front of a three-member panel next month to see whether or not he has a future in professional sports. The head coach of national team also stated that he would not select Folau as long as he is in charge of team affairs.
