The South Carolina Hearing on Constitutional Carry 3-20-13

Each and every representative has sworn an Oath to Support and Defend the Constitution. Having sworn that Oath we now must recognize the duty to actually READ AND UNDERSTAND what the Constitution actually requires.
What we wonder is how it is that there can be such a thing as a debate about whether or not we will adhere to the Constitution of the United States of America, when that debate is taking place among representatives ALL OF WHOM have sworn an Oath to Support and Defend that Constitution.
“The Second Amendment says that the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
We should not need a permit to exercise a right.
The Second Amendment IS our gun permit.
If you look at the Bill of Rights you will see quite a number of other rights that we are promised.
The First amendment – the Freedom of speech
Do you think that there would be a reasonable debate about whether or not we could be required to get a permit to exercise our freedom of speech?
Would you claim that we have freedom of speech if the government had a law saying that every book had to be approved?
Would you claim that we have freedom of religion if we had to take; and “pass”, a government mandated course on religion in order to get a permit to exercise our freedom of religion?
The Fourth amendment promises that we will be free from unwarranted searches or seizures.
Do you think that there would be a reasonable debate in this body, about whether or not we should create a list of requirements that we should meet before we could be free from unwarranted searches or seizures?
Do we have to go to a training class, or get a permit, before we earn the freedom of speech, or before we can be free from unwarranted searches or seizures?
We used to have a requirement that cars would have a safety sticker to show that a car was safe to drive on the road. We did away with that requirement.
When we did have that requirement, that safety sticker was NOT issued by government, but was obtained from a private inspector.
That fact is that we do not have a constitutionally protected right to keep and bear automobiles.
It is also a fact that more people a killed by automobiles than by guns.
Now we have restrictions that create “gun free zones”.
A “gun free zone” is a HELPLESS VICTIM ZONE.
Have we taken no notice of this:
The “gun free zones” are where all of the shootings take place.
That is where the nut case knows that he can go to shoot 20 people, and there will be no one there who can pull out a gun and shoot him.
Criminals prefer unarmed victims.
Dictators prefer unarmed subjects.

If you want to encourage a criminal to commit a crime all you have to do is to create a place where the criminal knows that he will be the only one who is armed.
A deterrent to crime is even created by the unknown possibility that someone might be armed.
If you look at the statistics of crime in any particular area, either inside of this country or outside,
you will find the lowest crime rates are the places with the highest gun ownership.
Restrictions on gun ownership only effect law abiding people.
The strictest gun laws: New York, Chicago, Washington DC have the highest crime rates.
The places that respect our right to keep and bear arms: Houston, Texas, Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming, have the lowest crime rates.
At this time Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming already allow residents to carry a firearm without a permit.
Kennesaw, GA has a requirement that you MUST own a gun. They have less crime there.
Switzerland has a requirement that you MUST own a gun, and to drill with that gun every year.
Switzerland has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.
During all of the world wide wars no one has wanted to attack Switzerland.
For some reason we do not hear much about terrorists in Switzerland.
In Israel the kindergarten teacher is likely to have a assault rifle.
For some reason we do not hear much about shootings at schools in Israel.
