the rolling stones - we love you - stereo remix IV
Edit 4 for headphones. Recorded June 12, 1967, released in the UK as a single on August 18, 1967 (B-side "Dandelion"), and as a B-side to "Dandelion" in the US on the same day. The two songs were the last ones produced by Andrew Loog Oldham. Source of the edit: "Through The Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2)" UK tracklist * [Japanese 1989 reissue P25L 25044]. "We Love You" charted no.1 in Holland, no.8 in UK. "Dandelion" charted no.14 in USA.
Wikipedia says: "We Love You" embraces a strong anti-establishment attitude, proclaiming "we don't care if you hound we and lock the doors around we" and "you will never win we, your uniforms don't fit we." [Well, ruudtes says about the same to the music corporations...]
The song was a message from the band to their fans, expressing appreciation for support in the wake of their recent drug busts, yet it was also a slap in the faces of the police harassing them and the Stones' true feelings about this (as is represented by Jones' surreal Mellotron playing).
Mellotron and brass: Brian Jones. Piano: Nicky Hopkins. Lead vocals: Mick Jagger. Guitars: Keith Richards. Bass: Bill Wyman. Drums: Charlie Watts. Backing vocals: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Like in so many many songs in the early Stones era (t.e.s.e.) it was Brian Jones' who did the trick of making this stand out: studio engineer George Chkiantz said that even though there was a delay between hitting the note and the sound coming out of the Mellotron, Brian Jones managed to get "a tight rhythmic punch" for the track.
I changed the film a bit, among other things I added some extra Brian Jones shots.

Concerning this edit I have a question for you.
But first comes my reaction towards people who describe Brian Jones' life as "elegantly wasted":
To be honest I think it is just a very unpolite remark, "elegantly wasted", it is just a wrong idea, the man was always so very decent, always helpful, polite, yes, he left a girl with a kid, but it was Andrew Oldham who forced him to do so, just like he forced Ian Stewart to be a roadie, and then the madness called "showbizz" took over Brian's life. So many died because of that madness. Worst of all are the leechers around them, selling drugs. THEY are the ones responsible for their early death. And there is more: in an interview Brian's father said that Brian was no longer the same after Anita Pallenberg - the hooker (or maybe I should be polite and call her the ultimate groupie, which in a way is the same) who slept with Jones, Jagger and Richards - had left him for Keith Richards.
You know what love sickness is. Well, Brian Jones was a very very sensitive guy, also had a weak health. It caused his downfall. A downfall that was worsened by his forced leaving of the group (he was forced to, for they wanted to tour the USA, and Brian was banned from travelling to the the USA because of his drugs conviction). They could have chosen for a temporary substitue. Like the Beatles did when Ringo Starr was sick during their touring in Holland.
Here is my question: What do you think of the bass sound of this edit? (Yes, that's primarily the objective of this edit, and not this story about Brian Jones).
