NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham has slammed NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell as "unfit" for her portfolio amid her response to complaints from parents "not sought consent" for their child's involvement in a "Gender Sexuality Alliance meeting".
Mr Latham referred to Merewether High School in Newcastle where the Deputy Principal sent a notification to all students to attend a 'Gender Sexuality Alliance' (GSA) meeting in the spirit of Pride month.
"It's hard to believe in a school environment for a child to go to a zoo, or the local environment centre or participate in the school swimming carnival, they need parental consent.
"But clearly now for Minister Mitchell there's no need for parental consent for children as young as 12 to go to this meeting of the sexuality and gender group, including transgender, where quite possibly they're talking about the gender transition of a boy becoming a girl, a girl becoming a boy.
"And the parents know nothing about it.
"Now wouldn't you think for children as young as 12 and 13, year 7 of high school, the parents would need to give consent."
"The parents are left with the responsibility and the legacy of this and not to be asked in the first place and for the Minister to say that's okay I find disgraceful.
"And Sarah Mitchell quite frankly is unfit, unfit to be the education minister."
