Hornby R2916 GWR 2800 Class 2-8-0 Steam Locomotive 2812 (OO Gauge) Review HD
Here is first model train review to start the brand new year of 2019 with. Despite the model train reviews of the Hornby Thomas and Friends range that I did last year. This is my first full sized steam locomotive and also I am a GWR fan, so I had to get this one as I was meaning to get one for a while but here I finally got round to it and this is a freight locomotive. This is a very nice model from Hornby in my opinion and I do like the detail that comes on this model. I believe the model was released in 2009 but this one was factory sealed and had the transit brackets that I had to remove before I could do the test run. The locomotive and tender are linked with a "ribbon" cable that I would agree is a nice idea for have the DCC connections into the tender where there is more room for a chip. However the packaging is poorly designed as it should have been designed to allow the locomotive and its tender to be permanently coupled together to reduce the risk of damage to the link cable.
The model has sprung buffers and NEM couplers to allow the owner to use their own couplers of their preference as needed. The model is quite a strong locomotive as it could pull the 26 wagons with ease although there was a bit of wheelslip at first and I had to tighten up the screws from the brackets (this should have been covered in the manual). Once I had fixed the problem, the model train ran a lot better. I do have plans to get some more model steam trains this year as they are growing on me.
This video is the first one to be made using my new video camera that is the Sony Handycam CX450 which I am enjoying and I would welcome your feedback on the sound and vision of my new camera.
