According to ancient Scottish folklore it was this kiss that allowed the Devil to seduce women into carrying out his satanic agenda. Throughout every recorded account of a witches Sabbat and countless confessions the ‘Osculum Infame’ was mentioned. According to these ancient texts witches would give the ‘kiss of shame’ at the beginning of the Sabbat and after the devil had read the names of his followers. It is said that a witch would approach the Devil by crawling or walking backwards, turn, bow and kiss his anus. Based on the regularity of this tradition it would seem that the ‘kiss of shame’ is a prerequisite for all new Witches. The North Berwick Witch Trials in 16th century Scotland held that the ‘kiss of shame’ was an act of penance issued from the devil.

Based on ancient texts it would seem that this is where the saying ‘Kiss My Ass’ originated. Reported in the news from Scotland back in 1592 author W.
