BREAKTHOUGH: JETMAN Can Now Take-Off Vertically--Can He LAND Vertically?
CLARIFY, please. When Jetman goes into HORIZONTAL flight can he change back into the VERTICAL hover to land---or right now he must use a parachute to land from the horizontal?

2020 Dubai Ground Takeoff
Rossy demonstrated for the first time, the ability of his jet pack to perform a vertical takeoff and transition to sustained horizontal flight.

As you know, I have always needed a plane or helicopter to drop me, and I use my parachute to get back on the cow floor. Even if it is possible to leave from a cliff in "Base Jump", this means is not accessible to everyone, and the landing is always done by parachute...
I started almost from scratch in Switzerland with the help of a new team to achieve the ultimate challenge of takeoff and autonomous landing from the ground. (HVTOL for Human Vertical Take Off and Landing)
I now have new, more powerful "JETCAT P550" engines that allow amazing flight performance such as climbing vertically at 180 km/h (see video) , which is the speed at which a human body falls into free fall...
I feel like in my Mirage III at the time, except I'm just a little guy with a wing on his back who plays plane like a kid with his body movements, imagine!
With such an outpouring of power, vertical takeoffs and landings are within reach!
Thanks to the help of extraordinary people who spontaneously offered their help, we can present to you today what seemed impossible: the stable and precise hover flight of the wing-man assembly allowing autonomous take-off and landing.
Ralph Losemann, demonstration pilot of remotely operated jet models, has created a new design of vector nozzles to guide the flow of reactors, based on the same principle as on Elon Musk's "Space X" rockets. (www.elsterjet.de)
Julien Lecoeur, who has just completed his doctorate in bio-inspired robotics at EPFL, has developed an electronic stabilization system that reacts to body movements.
My other helpers, Didier, Klaus, Chris, Marco, Marcelo, Kevin, Jean-Christophe and all my friends at the Bex aerodrome made me find the energy and creativity to start a new project with a new design and technology in the essential spirit that has always been mine: people at the center!
I really wish I could one day share with you these emotions of beauty and access this magical world from the vertical!

WE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO SUPERMAN-LIKE Flight!
Once JetWings Dubai figures out vertical LANDING without a parachute....
I wrote to Mr. Rossy 5/29/22:
Dear Sir,
How about while flying HORIZONTALLY with wing lift, you deploy a small drogue parachute that then acts like a fighter jet's tail landing chute.
As the drogue chute is back from your wings, you LOWER POWER until you stall and the drogue chute attached to your TOP REAR CENTER of your wings ROTATES to the vertical as you descend vertically.
You then INCREASE POWER until your thrust LIFT negates the drogue chute with no air flow resisting it, it dangles by your side or is jettisoned.
You decrease power then for a safe, slow vertical landing.
The worst possible inefficiency is throwing away a drogue chute every time you vertically land.
Stay tuned.
JETMAN SAYS HE CAN!

Weapons futurist, David Crane of defensereview.com came up with an even simpler suggestion: LAND HORIZONTALLY WITH FOLD-DOWN WHEELS connected to the JETWING aero unit. Of course, flare just before touch-down and have the rear-most wheels then front wheels.
Sadly, the courageous aviator, Vince Reffet has died perfecting the Jetwing for vertical landing orientation.

Why doesn't he get the Collier Trophy for Aviation achievement?
He deserves it in spades.
Hope he did John 3:16.
