the rolling stones - mother's little helper (intro sung by keith richards) - processed 'stereo'
Edit (Keith intro) for headphones. I never heard this one before until February 2018: a studio take with Keith Richards singing the first line of this song; also is Mick Jagger's voice quite different from any other take of this song. I found out that the bootlegger (source file is from the bootleg album "Twenty Rolling Stones Snippets, Fragments & Other DIY Stuffs" catalogued 'Frankenstein production 024') has downloaded it from an ABKCO YouTube channel. (Can't find it anymore, if you do, please write me!) So this confirms what I read some years ago: the ABCKO family has unreleased studio takes of songs of The Rolling Stones that they consider not interesting. Let's hope all of that material will one day be released. For boy oh girl, what a beautiful version this is. I like Keith Richard's singing voice VERY much.
For the ones who think this isn't Mick Jagger: listen to the entire song, at some point later in the song you will realize you are not such an experienced Stones fan after all, for it truly is Mick Jagger singing. The source of this song is the ABKCO family who owns the commercial rights to all sixties Stones songs and who published this song as a studio take by The Rolling Stones on a long gone by YouTube channel.
The song deals with the sudden popularity of prescribed calming drugs among housewives, and the potential hazards of overdose or addiction. The drug in question is variously assumed to be meprobamate or diazepam (Valium).
A giant big "Hurray!" for the ABKCO family who so generously allows all sixties Stones music on YouTube.
This in stark contrast to the greedy J... family that owns the Beatles rights and forbids any Beatles' thing you upload to YouTube. Shame on them!!!
MOTHER'S LITTLE HELPER
(Jagger/Richards)
what a drag it is getting old
"kids are different today,"
I hear ev'ry mother say
mother needs something today to calm her down
and though she's not really ill
there's a little yellow pill
she goes running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
and it helps her on her way, gets her through her busy day
"things are different today,"
I hear ev'ry mother say
cooking fresh food for a husband's just a drag
so she buys an instant cake and she burns her frozen steak
and goes running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
and two help her on her way, get her through her busy day
doctor please, some more of these
outside the door, she took four more
what a drag it is getting old
"men just aren't the same today"
I hear ev'ry mother say
they just don't appreciate that you get tired
they're so hard to satisfy, you can tranquilize your mind
so go running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
and four help you through the night, help to minimize your plight
doctor please, some more of these
outside the door, she took four more
what a drag it is getting old
"life's just much too hard today,"
I hear ev'ry mothe
