Demon face syndrome or prosopometamorphopsia A new study is bringing to life the terrifying images of people who have a rare condition known as “demon face syndrome.”
The study, published in The Lancet, shows illustrations of prosopometamorphopsia (PMO), a condition that causes peoples’ faces to appear distorted or demonic.
Victor Sharrah, 58, says out of the blue nearly 3 years ago, people’s faces around him looked demonic. Prosopometamorphopsia (PMO) is an extremely rare visual disorder that alters the sufferer’s perception of faces.
A 58-year-old man with a 31-month history of seeing people’s faces distorted and, in his words, appearing “demonic” visited a university laboratory for an assessment.
