Can anyone really choose what they believe? Have you ever heard anyone ask a question like, "Why did you decide to become an atheist?" Or, "Why would you choose to stop believing in God?"

I don't think anyone has the ability to choose the things they believe. They emerge out of the set of knowledge that an individual has. You believe things because of the information you have. Much like seeing gravity work over and over again, you cannot decide not to believe in gravity, no matter how hard you try.
