The community of Greenwich Farm in the St Andrew South police division is now on edge after Monday’s murder of two men in a 30-minute span..
The dead men have been identified as 55-year-old Christopher Palmer, popularly known as ‘Bagga’ and Andrew Robinson, also called ‘Brandy’.
Police report that Palmer was standing outside his home about 10:30 am when he was attacked and shot several times by men travelling in a motorcar.
He died on the spot.
Minutes later Robinson also met his demise close to his home at West Street. He was attacked and shot several times while walking.
It is not clear if the two shootings are related.
Residents of Greenwich Town, known as ‘Greenidge Farm’, described Palmer as the ‘Don’ for a section of the community known as 'Top Farm'. Top Farm is bordered by Spanish Town Road, Bumper Hall, East Avenue and a train line that runs through the community, which is the unofficial line of demarcation between Top Farm and another section known as 'Bottom Farm'.
On Monday, the area was tense as police processed the crime scene and social media was abuzz with warnings to motorists to avoid the community. There was also a heavy traffic build up along Spanish Town Road, lower Waltham Park Road and lower Maxfield Avenue due to the incident.
Palmer’s killing has caused some residents to express fear of reprisals.
