Two Pieces, Op. 1, No. 1 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Tchaikovsky would complete his ‘Two Pieces’ for solo piano in 1867 at the age of 17. The premiere of ‘Two Pieces’ would take place the same year in Moscow at the Russian Musical Society, but only the first of the two works would have a performance. While it is unclear whether this is the first music Tchaikovsky composed, it is confirmed to the first music the composer would have published.
