In the workshop is this reduction gear from the front of a Bristol Hercules engine that was fitted to Halifax MZ763 which while returning from a raid was shot down by a Heinkel HE219 over the Netherlands, sadly four of the crew did not survive.
This golden gem of history is to be used for a memorial and I have been asked to make it lighter by removing the reduction gears from inside the casing.
