"Giovinezza" (1922 version; composed by G. Castaldo, lyrics by Marcello Manni)

This is a rare version of the 1922 version of the popular Italian Nationalist song called "Giovinezza" ("Youth"), the de facto anthem of the PNF, and the unofficial anthem of Fascist Italy.

This version was composed by G. Castaldo in 1921, and was sung during the Blackshirts' March on Rome in 1922. Castaldo composed this song from Marcello Manni's 1919 lyrics, coupled with original score ("Il Commiato") by Giuseppe Blanc from 1909.

After the March on Rome Benito Mussolini commissioned Italian playwright and author Salvator Gotta to produce new lyrics, which were completed in 1924, the 1924 version being the most popular version of the song.
