The Hoskins is a very old wet fly pattern that has gone through some changes over the years. In Mary Orvis Marbury book Favorite Flies and Their Histories the Hoskins has a tail of golden Pheasant crest. By the time it ended up in Ray Bergman's book Trout the tail had been eliminated. However, there is no tag on the Hoskins and without a tail it presents issues with the floss body drifting down the hook bend. There are a number of ways to deal with this issue and I highlight a simple one in the video. The Hoskins is also another example of how a fly does not have to be complicated to be effective. -- Enjoy
