1. The devil is our foe but we shouldn’t be afraid of him.
(And the LORD said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” Job 1v7)
Though Satan is mighty, he is not all-mighty; though he is wise and knowing, he is not omniscient; though he is powerful, he is not all-powerful. Nor is he omnipresent; he is on God's chain and can only go as far as God permits in affecting mankind.
2. The devil can be resisted by Christians. (Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4v7)
3. Christians shouldn’t give the devil a place. (Nor give place to the devil. Ephesians 4v27)
How do we give Satan a place in our life?
1.Temptation (Matthew 4v1-11; Mark 1v13; Luke 4v1-13; 1 Corinthians 7v5; John 14v30; 1 John 5v18)
2. Sin (1 John 3v8; Ephesians 2v2)
3.Deception (Genesis 3v1-4,13; 2 Corinthians 11v3; 1 Timothy 2v14; 2 Corinthians 11v13-15; John 8v44; 2 Thessalonians 2v9-10; Revelation 13v14)
4. Accusation (Revelation 12v10; Job 1v2; Zechariah 3v1-2)
5. Affliction (1 Corinthians 5v5; Luke 13v16)
6. Opposition (1 Chronicles 21v1; Acts 10v38; Revelation 2v10; 12v13,17; 13v7)
7. Death (Hebrews 2v14; Jude 9; 1 John 3v12; John 8v44)
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 12v11
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 1 Peter 5v8-9
