Light Cavalry: Overture by Franz von Suppé

Austrian composer Franz von Suppé completed his operetta ‘Light Cavalry’ in 1866, with the premiere performance taking place in the Carltheather in Vienna the same year. The operetta is in two acts focusing on a small Austrian village during the arrival of a regiment of Hussars. The light cavalry namesake is a reference to the name of a ballet company owned by the wife of the Baron in the story.
