The names of those in the cabal mentioned by Atwill are Herbert Wechsler, Morris Plaskow (maybe Maurice/Moritz, I couldn’t find anything online), Albert Deutsch, David Loewth (spelling?), Morris Ernst, Harry Benjamin, and Manfried Guttmacher. Atwill says it’s unusual that they were all Jews.
I would say they’re definitely the usual suspects... Herbert Wechsler was a very prominent lawyer and legal adviser to FDR. He introduced the Model Penal Code in 1962 which was influenced by his study of Kinsey’s work. Atwill says this completely changed the way morality could (or could not) be legislated across the country. Ruth Bader Ginsberg, in volume 100 of the Columbia Law Review (Oct. 2000), wrote In Memory of Herbert Wechsler in which she says he was her teacher and was “a true Olympian” who “combined the power and mien of the Greek gods Zeus and Apollo.” She went on to say that his Model Penal Code “guided state legislatures in reshaping their statutes.”
