My student Gav after lesson one

Gav had the duck wing swing (see my previous vids on that) and is struggling with inconsistency. He had power but wants to do the swing correctly (Hogan style but with modern alternative changes). I am walking him through a modified Mike Austin swing which should get his wrist angle correct, his power elbow in the correct space, and the power move of right forearm rotation. Gav is very fit and is able to get to these positions. Add to those the 27.5 degree downswing. His brain is fighting the new positions as they feel unnatural. Swinging back into the left heel through your body position is strange and does not compute to the mind. Swinging an axe at that angle does, because there is no rotation and the mind can understand it because the safety factor of the axe stopping before going into your body because the log is in the way to stop it from happening. That will be the first leg of his journey. That will be our journey over the next few months. After 1 hour on the range he discovered that he could perform at a different level. Hit a few 8 irons 180 yards without going full out.
