Me & My Song SE1 Episode 10
“Sir Duke”
PART 1:
Jessica Leia takes the stage this week on “Me and My Song” as she discusses the safe-haven that music provides for us in order that we might process and allow the complex and varied feelings that we all experience as complex and varied human beings… (You know, so we don’t end up stuffing them deep down inside, only to have them re-appear as a heart attack or hyper tension later on). Enjoy guest appearances from U. Effin Hippie, Mz. Floozy and Señor Sensitivo’s debut appearance on stage, while Jessica Leia pays tribute to the song writing skills and lyrical genius of Stevie Wonder and then presents a solo performance of the song ‘Sir Duke’ for you!
PART 2:
Jessica Leia is shaking things up a bit this week and doing ‘The Chopping Block’ over in the ‘Big Studio’ at Los Medanos College. Discussions will ensue with Producer, Frank Dorritie about whether this month’s song should have clanky guitars, skat or kazoos! (Big decisions, big decisions). Jessica and Frank discuss the reasons behind why Stevie Wonder’s original song, “Sir Duke” had different versions at the time that it was released and what that means for them before they go in studio to record it. (Hint: it has SOMETHING to do with disco) … Jessica won’t be doing the show on a stage this week so there will be no carrot chopping. But you WILL see a cucumber chopping in a cartoon AND get a performance of the song at the end of the video, so enjoy!
PART 3:
It’s back to San Francisco this week on “Me and My Song” as Jessica Leia heads on over to WAM Studios and records the Basic Tracks for this month’s song. It’s a pretty standard recording session with her and the guys; including tasty treats like impromptu Judas Priest performances, cloven hooves and off-screen strip teases. Oh yeah, and there will be some music will be recorded also, (once everyone works through the brain confusion). At the end of the session, we’ll toss in a few kazoos and call it a day in the life of a rock star!
PART 4:
Jessica Leia heads on in to record the final vocals for Sir Duke and because of the shape shifting reptilians at SONY, ends up not being able to use them. I know, right?
