In His Sermon on the Mount, Christ taught His disciples that the eye is the light of the soul.
Matthew 6:22-23 – “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single [clear; undivided; without hypocrisy], thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil [wicked; malicious], thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”
Proverbs 30:17 instructs us that a “look in the eye” can tell you a lot about what is going on in the soul and spirit of a man.
