On Sunday morning, November 5, 2017, Deven Kelley traveled to Sutherland Springs, Texas and opened fire on the First Baptist Church congregation. As the events unfolded a daughter ran to her father to alert him to help. Stephen Willeford grabbed his AR-15 and ammunition and rushed to save his neighbors. After confronting the gunman, Stephen eventually won the gunfight.
Although 26 were killed and 20 injured, many lives were saved due to his courageous actions. Calls across the nation have occurred and those blaming guns for the violence unfolding in the nation seek to take away the 2nd Amendment which enabled Stephen to stop further slaughter.
Since 2017 many more attacks have occurred, such as the tragedy in Uvalde. Yet, will turning in guns, using red flag laws, and banning assault style weapons actually prevent the problems?
