Duane Bobick steps up in competition to fight Ken Norton in a highly anticipated heavyweight showdown! This fight took place at Madison Square Garden in New York on May 11, 1977. Ken Norton's previous fight was a controversial split decision loss to Muhammad Ali in the second fight of the Norton - Ali trilogy.

Duane Bobick (born August 24, 1950) is a retired boxer from the United States. As an amateur he won the gold medal at the 1971 Pan American Games and fought at the 1972 Olympics. He then turned professional in 1973 and retired in 1979 with a record of 48 wins (42 by knockout) and four losses, all by knockout.

Kenneth Howard Norton Sr. (August 9, 1943 – September 18, 2013) was an American professional boxer who competed from 1967 to 1981 and held the WBC world heavyweight championship in 1978. He is best known for his fights with Muhammad Ali, in which Norton won the first by split decision, lost the second by split decision, and lost the final by a controversial unanimous decision. Norton also fought a slugfest with Larry Holmes in 1978, narrowly losing a split decision.

Norton retired from boxing in 1981 and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992.
