Finding decent quality but affordable Halloween lights can be a problem. The supermarkets are full of cheap, nasty and overpriced lights but they usually fall apart after a few days and rarely survive until the next Halloween. This new set from Fooxon priced at £11.99 is not the cheapest I have seen but it is decent quality, well made and looks good.
The 3M 20LED kit arrived packaged in just a cellophane display bag, a branded product box would help to sell the set and be useful for storage, but might have added somewhat to the price.
In the bag was just the lighting set itself and the hardwired battery box, no instructions were included and none were needed. The twenty LEDs are on a 3M string with a gap of around 15cm between each light. The clear plastic box holds the three AA batteries needed, accessed by a rather awkward to open side hinge, with a three-way turret switch to turn the lights On, Off or to Flashing mode. The switch is quite large and easy to operate in the dark. The 5cm pumpkin heads are easy to remove, they just pull off the LED light mount and can just as easily be replaced, which I guess would give you the option of using the light kit as a simple white light string if required.
Battery life seems fine and one battery set should last throughout the Halloween holiday.
This is a decent quality light kit which is safe to use inside and outside the home due to the low voltage battery powered operation. The price is good for the quality and if looked after the kit should be able to give service over many Halloweens to come.
