My guess is he was just like any of us today that are awake and seen like we do how things are controlled and manipulated and decided to document the fact almost like a record for the future to see how long this has been going on for.

He then has projected forward what he believes would happen if this kept playing out in society, either way he wasn't wrong especially on the control of the sheeple.
