Treblinka: Hitler's killing machine.
The official narrative....how we learn it in school...
(In 2013) Forensic archeologist Caroline Sturdy Colls has been granted unprecedented access to excavate one of history's greatest crime scenes: Hitler's secret extermination camp in the Polish village of Treblinka. Here, between 1942 and 1943, 900,000 Jews were sent to their deaths, but for 70 years, all evidence of the camp and its victims had vanished... until now. Follow the quest to unearth the processing rooms, gas chambers, and mass graves Hitler tried to erase from existence and journey into the dark heart of the Nazi's Final Solution.

The only false note from this dark, riveting, heartbreaking and invaluable documentary on the Nazis’ Treblinka extermination camp lies in one corner of the packaging.
“Treblinka” follows British forensic archeologist Dr. Caroline Sturdy Colls as she and a small team try to reconstruct the physical layout of the camp, which the Germans leveled and buried once they had killed some 1.6 million Jews and other “undesirables” there.
In the subsequent 70 years, the legacy of Treblinka has been documented only by a handful of survivors and German guards, not by physical evidence.
That makes Colls’ mission vital, because historians labor to record evil with as much concrete certainty as possible.
The Holocaust brought inhumanity on such a massive scale that sometimes we grasp it better through small details about single acts.
“Treblinka” provides those. It recounts step by step how the camp could process 6,000 people in an hour, from arrival on a train to burial in a mass grave.
Colls and her team are looking for an earring or a pendant in the dirt.
She says it all just makes her angry, so angry. That’s the right response.

What feels less right is the producers framing parts of the show in the trappings of a reality show. They play reality show music. Commercial breaks are preceded by “stay tuned!” teases.
At the very beginning, we see a man saying he “just hopes” Colls can handle what she finds.
We know that device. It’s designed to maximize the sense of impending drama.
It was fine with Al Capone’s vault.
Here it’s just insulting.
Colls and her team consistently treat this exploration with appropriate respect, and so, for the most part, does the show. However, it could stand to lose a few little lapses.

WHY move people thousands of miles, when it is easier and CHEAPER to use a bullet on the spot as the Soviets did with 60.000.000 Christians
WHY build all kinds of FACILITIES when it is easier and CHEAPER to find a meadow, surround it with barbed wire, withhold ANY food, water and sanitary services and shoot anyone that is trying to provide it, as the Americans did with their Rhine Meadow camps.
The answer is coming soon....
