There is 300,000 crimes commited with guns every year, that sounds like a lot until you realize there is more than 500,000 to 3 million violent crimes prevented with firearms every year in America. Guns are used to save lives way more than they are used to commit crime.

1997 was right in the middle of the assault weapons ban that banned all assault rifles (ak47 and ar15s) and all magazines above a 30 round capacity. Since we unbanned and brought back assault rifles and magazines that hold over 30 rounds crime rate with guns has dropped by over 51 percent
