I was a bit of a let-down, to put it lightly, but I didn't get thrown in a re-education camp, so all's well that ends well! You know what's interesting? This all happened on 4/1/2023. I had no idea this happened on April Fool's Day until now. I don't think my students invited me to do this for this reason, though, because April Fool's Day has been banned in China since 2016.
