"The Fall and the Fallen" concludes with a father-and-son showdown. Flashpoint Batman reveals his fiendish reasoning for dragging Batman into the desert, and who is in the coffin they've been dragging along with them. But is this a step too far? It's Bruce Wayne versus Thomas Wayne for the right to wear the cowl, and all of Gotham City hangs in the balance!
Tom King's lead up to The Wedding was boring and features Batman’s transformation into Low T Bats. Post-Wedding Batman was uneven at the best of times, especially for DC Comics. The series bottomed out during the “Knightmares” story arc. Easily one of the worst in the 75 year history of the character. The current Fall of the Fallen story hasn’t been much better. Of course, this is all leading up to the much talked about City of Bane story that starts in issue 75. Tom King desperately needs to hit a homerun with City of Bane. The Animals and the Pit is explored ad nauseam. Using the book as the story narration near the end was pretentious as all hell, even by King’s standards. Just what readers have come to expect from his Low T Batman.
The final four pages of the issue are very well done. Is this a sign of better days ahead for Batman readers? I’ve felt they were coming for some time now. Based on recent history, not likely. But the..
