In the Netherlands the important Western concept of democracy has increasingly been under pressure. Democracy is no longer as much celebrated as an important concept as it used to be.

This is part of a dangerous trend that can be observed in Europe and in the Western world as a whole: the results of elections are only respected in case the 'correct' parties win. If the 'correct' parties do not win, the winning party gets excluded, and the election result in general, which is the exercise of the right to self determination of the people, gets disrespected and even ignored.

In the city of Rotterdam, the winning party is now excluded from forming a coalition. This is an example of a much broader and deeper trend. As expected, the mainstream media in the Netherlands does not focus on addressing this issue.
