DC Comics hiring of Brian Michael Bendis has been an abject failure. Brian Michael Bendis was brought into DC Comics with much fanfare and tons of marketing heralding his arrival. Brian Michael Bendis was given the keys to the #Superman universe with his #ManofSteel miniseries, writing gig on both Superman and #ActioComics, a prominent story in #AC1000 and the cancellation of #SuperSons. Initially sales for Bendis' Superman miniseries and subsequent titles were strong but they have dropped like a rock as of late and both Superman and Action Comics are selling less than under #PeterTomasi and #DanJurgens. DC Comics also signed to publish his Jinxword titles and their sales are worse than even New Age of Heroes, a recent set of DC Comics that have almost all been cancelled.
Not to be outdone the relaunch of Vertigo under #AndyKhouri has been even worse. The new launch has permanently damaged the reputation of Vertigo, once one of the most innovative, influential lines in all of #comics. Vertigo has been beset by low sales and multiple controversies such as; Robbi Rodrigues sending anus photos to a comic pro on Twitter, Eric Esquivel's sexual abuse allegations, the cancellation of Christian satire comic Second Coming. Vertigo, under Andy Khouri, also went out of their way to hire creators with no track record of sales or writing comics in hopes of adding a "woke" element to the new brand.
