On January 13th 1965 a patent was filed for solid rocket propellant.
It became the base formula for solid propellant rockets world wide.
This mixture is typically
69-70% ammonium perchlorate
6-20% aluminium powder
11-14% polybutadiene acrylonitrile
(ground rubber a.k.a. PBAN)
There were 135 Shuttle launches.
Each Launch requres two rocket boosters.

1.1 Million lbs (500,000 kg).

The production volume of ammonium perchlorate is used primarily as the oxidant for solid rocket boosters.
Perchlorates are also used in fireworks and munitions.
74% of food tested by the FDA
contained perchlorates.
Perchlorates were found in all persons tested by the CDC.
