The Dave Clemo Band was my music project from 2011 to 2013. We were a four piece acoustic band. I played guitar and mandolin and sang the lead vocals; my son Chris played cajon and suitcase drumkit; Vince Gorman played guitar and cittern and Dave Walker played double bass. We played pubs and small venues in Kettering and local villages. It was fun while it lasted.
We performed songs by one artist in the style of another. This song is a prime example. I’ve been a fan of Chas & Dave since the 1980s and this song is one of my favourites. I’ve also been a fan of The Mavericks since I bought their album ‘What a Crying Shame’ in the mid 1990s. My favourite track was ‘The Losing Side of Me’, an up tempo country rock song. When choosing songs to cover in our live set it seemed like a good fit to play this Chas & Dave song in the style of The Mavericks. And why not? I hope you enjoy it!
